  • The Government of France does not recognize the 12-page U.S. emergency passport as valid for visa-free entry. If you travel with this passport, immigration officials may refuse your entry, or you might be held at the airport until a return flight to the U.S. is available. However, direct transit through France to another country that accepts the emergency passport may be allowed. Always check the entry requirements of your destination country to ensure the emergency passport is accepted.
  • You can enter the Schengen area, including France, for up to 90 days for tourism or business without a visa.
  • When traveling through Europe, you should know the requirements of the Schengen Agreement.
  • Your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond your stay. However, we recommend that it have at least six months' validity. Additionally, you will need proof of sufficient funds and a return plane ticket.
